Overview

The purpose of the TQUK Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate (RQF) is to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and skills required for a variety of job roles in the adult health and social care sector, including equality and diversity; safeguarding; duty of care; health and safety; person-cantered approaches; and handling information. This qualification develops competence; therefore, learners must be in paid work to enable assessment to take place.

This qualification is based on the Care Certificate Standards and develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in adult social care settings in England. It is designed for all learners working in adult social care and is being introduced to the sector.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for these qualifications, but learners should be at least 19 years of age

Do you need to be working to take this qualification?

Learners must spend a minimum of 40 hours working, volunteering or on practical placement to be able to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Who is it suitable for?

Learners aged 19 and above working in adult social care in England are the target audience for this qualification. The sector is introducing it to enhance portability and minimize the necessity for repeated training and assessment when individuals transition between roles. This also aligns with the goal of promoting career advancement and development.

Funding Information

For the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate, a combined claims model will apply, wherein employers must claim 60% of the reimbursement value upon their employee starting the qualification, with the remaining 40% reimbursement provided upon proof of course completion. See further guidance.

In order to manage the roll-out sensibly, for the first few months access to the service will be via invite only but providers can complete an expression of interest form to be onboarded onto the new system. The form can be accessed here.

This qualification is internally assessed and externally quality assured via a portfolio of evidence.
