Overview

NCFE Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English Qualification purpose is to prepare the learner for work, study and life. Students who achieve this qualification will demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, listen and communicate in English. Learners will be able to apply these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in real life situations.

The Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English is designed to help learners develop practical communication skills that can be applied in everyday life, the workplace, and further education. This nationally recognised qualification focuses on the essential skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and communication, enabling learners to build confidence and improve their ability to use English effectively in real-world situations.

Level 1 English Equivalences

Functional Skills English Level 1 is equivalent to GCSE grades 1–3 and provides an excellent pathway for learners who wish to progress to Level 2 Functional Skills English or enhance their employment and study opportunities.
