The Level 5 Extended Diploma in Early Childhood Education is a vocational qualification aiming to develop advanced knowledge, skills and professional practice in early years education. It builds on prior learning (typically a Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience) and prepares learners for leadership roles in early -year settings. It is academically aligned with higher education standards (e.g., the second year of a bachelor’s degree).
Learners are not required to be employed in an early year or childcare setting to undertake the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
Level 4 qualifications denote practical knowledge, skills, capacities, and competencies that are academically recognised as equivalent to the first year of a UK Bachelor’s Degree.
Level 5 Diploma qualifications represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.
